About Me
I'm a 36 year-old software developer, born and raised in Belgium. I still live in Antwerp (Belgium) — by far the best city in the world — but I enjoy travelling, especially around Europe.
I started studying Computer Science at the University of Antwerp in 2008. During my studies, I started a summer job at NGI (Next Generation Innovation) where I primarily worked on projects for their client 2degrees. This summer job ultimately led to a few years of employment with NGI.
More importantly it gave me the opportunity to travel to New Zealand a couple of times. Twice work related, once to properly explore the North and South island. Photos from those travels can be found in these albums 2012, 2013 and 2016
In 2015, I was the technical co-founder of Beeple, a SaaS company focused on building planning software for flexible staff management. The company was acquired by Visma at the end of 2022. I left Beeple at the end of 2024 to focus on my new company Heelo, where we're building software for patients and doctors.
My main interests are software development, Formula 1, photography,
playing board games, films and books.
These passions are reflected throughout the site, where I primarily share
articles and thoughts related to these topics.
As a software developer, I am mostly familiar with the following languages and frameworks:
- Ruby on Rails
- Flutter
- Vue (JavaScript/TypeScript)
- HTML & CSS
- Tofu (and Terraform)
- GitLab CI/CD
- AWS (with a focus on ECS, S3, IAM, Lambda, …)
I also occasionally write small tools or side projects using:
- Python
- Rust
- C++
- C#
- Java
- …and more.
